Rigging & Lifting Specialist

Location : UAE

Start       : ASAP

Role       : Contractor

Duration : 2 months

 

FCS have a short term requirement for 1x Rigging & Lifting Specialist for assignment to the UAE.

 

Main Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

 

Maintain day-to-day oversight of the Fabrication Yard’s systems and activities with respect to the implementation of its HSSE & SP Management System and compliance with the HSSE requirements of the TMS Fabrication Contract, with particular responsibility for lifting and rigging

 

Main Tasks (include, but are not limited to the following):

 

  • Provide professional and technical HSSE & SP advice, guidance, information and support to the Project, with specific responsibilities for lifting and rigging;

  • Confirm Yard Subcontractor’s lifting and rigging materials are in compliance with relevant standards;

  • Assess the quality and competency of the Yard Subcontractor’s lifting and rigging training instructors;

  

  • Confirm the Yard Subcontractor’s lifting and rigging training programme meets with relevant British Standards or better;

  • Confirm acceptable third party certification of lifting and rigging personnel, including crane and fork lift operators;

  • Conduct ongoing competency monitoring of the Yard Subcontractor’s lifting and rigging personnel;

  • Conduct periodic crane, lifting and rigging inspections and audits;

  • Attend, review and monitor the Yard Subcontractor’s pre-task talks, tool box talks, method statements, JSAs and risk assessments;

  • Ensure all lifting and rigging equipment / materiel is appropriately certified and colour-coded;

  • Review for acceptability any Yard Subcontractor proposed subcontractors for transportation and lifting activities;

  • Capture and report any safety concerns at the daily / weekly safety meetings;

  • Intervene to address any immediate safety issues;

  • Review daily work scopes and carry out surveillance on implementation;

  • Support implementation of programs for raising HSSE & SP awareness;

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to the personnel in the HSSE&SP Organisation;

  • Provide briefings to SBM Site Supervisors on lifting and rigging issues.

 

 

Attributes:

  • Previous experience in Rigging & Lifting roles for Offshore Oil and Gas Floating Projects

 

Qualifications:

 

  • ECITB Level 3 Supervisory Certificate

  • ECITB NVQ LEVEL 4 Engineering Construction moving loads

  • ECITB NVQ LEVEL 3 capital plant steel structures

  • LOLER Planner, Assessor, (Appointed Person )

 

Personal qualities:

 

  • Must be able to communicate (both verbally and in writing) in English

  • Available to work in the UAE for 2 consecutive months
