Commissioning Electrical Lead Technician

Job Title             : Electrical Commissioning Lead Technician

Responsible to   : Electrical Commissioning Engineer

Location             : Oman

Start Date          : Q2 2016

 

Main purpose of the Job:

  • Responsible for the Management and Supervision of Electrical Commissioning Technicians executing the pre-commissioning and commissioning of all project electrical systems and equipment including;  power generation, HV (up to and including 33kV) / LV distribution and associated facility electrical systems (VSDs, LV/HV motors, lighting, UPS etc.).

Principal Accountabilities

  • Deliver fully the projects expectations on HSE.

  • Along with Discipline Engineers plan and schedule daily works activities for Technicians reporting to him. Assist with compilation of Livening Up Notices (LUNS)

  • Participate in level 2 risk assessments

  • Ensuring all Electrical Commissioning personnel carryout their work and are fully trained in accordance with site PTW procedures.

  • Carry out Electrical MC walkdowns and compile punchlists in accordance with project specifications

  • Undertake Performing Authority duties in accordance with PTW procedure

  • Must be able to demonstrate technical and practical competence, under assessment by the company Technical Authority, to take up the role of Authorised Electrical Person at low voltage and limited high voltage levels.

  • Responsible for implementing, execution and completion of all Electrical Pre Commissioning activities.

  • Responsible for the safety & management of all Electrical Commissioning personnel and vendors reps under their control when on-site

  • As building Electrical documents in accordance with the project procedure

  • Responsible for the update of Electrical Pre-Commissioning progress into the project completions documentation system.

Experience:

  • Should have a proven track record of experience working on Electrical Commissioning systems on onshore or offshore Oil &Gas, Petro-Chemical, or Power Industry facilities.

  • Supervising a Commissioning multinational team of Electrical Technicians.

  • Preparation of Permit to work and Performing Authority responsibilities.

 

Qualifications:

  • A recognised mechanical/process qualification from their native country

  • High Voltage Switching Operations competency training

  • Compex Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Area Certificate (desirable)

 

Basic Skills:

  • Competent in communicating in English language written and spoken

  • Ability to work on own initiative.

  • Ability to supervise local and expat labour and liaise with the Engineering Contractor.

  • Ability to interact with Electrical Engineers and be part of a multi discipline group.

  • Good inter-personal skills.

  • Ability to produce structured written reports.

  • Computer literate in MS Office package, minimum Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.

  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematic and other related engineering drawings in English
